Leonel Mendoza Jr.
Head Goalkeeper Coach

Leonel Mendoza Jr. is the Head Goalkeeper Coach with two years of hands-on coaching experience and a passion for developing young athletes both on and off the field. A holder of the U.S. Soccer Federation Grassroots License, Leonel specializes in working with goalkeepers and youth teams, currently coaching both a 2013 and 2018 age group, while also serving as an assistant coach for 2013 and 2014 squad years prior.

What sets Leonel apart is his unique ability to connect with his players—many of whom are close to his age. This relatability allows him to build strong, meaningful relationships with his athletes and guide them through their developmental journeys with empathy and insight.

Leonel’s coaching philosophy is rooted in instilling a competitive mindset, discipline, and a relentless work ethic in every player he coaches. His goal is to shape not just strong athletes, but resilient individuals who carry these values into all areas of life.

As a former high-level youth player himself, Leonel competed in Utah’s Premier 1 division—the state’s top youth soccer tier—and has won major tournaments including the Park City Extreme Cup and the Utah Cup. His firsthand experience at the highest levels of youth soccer gives him a deep understanding of the demands of the game and the mindset needed to succeed.

Leonel Mendoza Jr. is committed to helping young goalkeepers and teams rise to their full potential through focused training, mentorship, and passion for the game.
